Dream BIG
Dream big, don't ever limit yourself because you are amazing and can do anything and everything you've ever dreamed of... this is something I've learned firsthand.
Five years ago, I was living in Brussels, working as a Comms and PR officer for a NGO. I liked my job, but was thinking more and more about the dream I had always kept tucked away in a little corner of my mind... becoming a television journalist.
It was a BIG dream and one that everyone told me was hard and tough to get into and extremely competitive, etc, etc! I let those comments just roll off me because there was a bigger, louder voice telling me a different story. That voice told me loudly and clearly that I could do ANYTHING I wanted to. That voice had absolute faith that I would succeed. I formed a crystal clear image in my mind's eye working for CNN International - no other channel would do! Microphone in hand, staring down the barrel of the camera, there I was beaming out to millions of viewers around the world. It felt so real and I played that image in my mind again and again until about 14 months later, there I was working at CNN in London. I KNEW all along I would get there!
Fast forward four years and I've worked at some of the biggest news channels in television... with CNN I was part of some incredible events - the Royal Wedding, the Olympics, the Jubilee - and got to interview big stars on the red carpet (Charlize Theron was my first interview and I was absolutely star struck!). I've worked as a producer at NBC, a presenter at France 24 in Paris and just got back from Doha where I was working as a producer for Al Jazeera.
All that just because I believed in myself... I had absolute faith that I would succeed no matter what. I'm busy plotting my next move... which is even BIGGER than before!
Never settle for anything less than phenomenal - why lead an ordinary life when your life can be extraordinary? So whatever you're dreaming of, make sure it's BIG.
