BTBYoga - Day 12 - Wide-Legged Forward Bend
Hi everyone - I hope you had a lovely, long weekend! I did tons of sorting and packing for our upcoming move to Jersey, but more of that later :-)
It's Day 12 of the Back to Basics Yoga project and today I'm breaking down one of my favourite poses - wide legged forward bend. This pose gives you a deep, intense stretch through your hamstrings and inner thighs. It's one of those yummy, juicy stretches that feels sooo good! If you feel a bit tight in your hamstrings, then bend your legs a bit and work up to straightening them.
If you can comfortably place the crown of your head on the mat in line with your feet, then it may be time to try to come up into a tripod headstand. I did this for the first time last summer when one of my favourite teachers in London (Celest Pereira) told me to squeeze my elbows in tightly towards each other. As soon as I did that my legs just floated up effortlessly!! It was an incredible moment - try it for yourself if you're ready and see! And definitely try out one of Celest's classes if you're in London. She is amazing :-)
Here is the full breakdown in my video. There are actually four variations of this pose (the hand placement changes), but I've demo-ed variation A in the video.
